Make an active and hands-on contribution to ending hunger in Eastern Massachusetts by supporting The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) in one of three ways.
Hosting a fundraising campaign with friends, family, or colleagues is an exciting and fun way to make a lasting impact on GBFB’s work. Every dollar that your team raises will provide three (3) healthy meals to those in need in Eastern Massachusetts.
Fundraising for GBFB is easy! We will provide you with a personalized fundraising webpage to make collecting donations and spreading the word as easy as sharing on you social media or sending an email.
Here’s how to get started:
Gather your friends, family, and colleagues who are interested in helping GBFB end hunger in Eastern Massachusetts. Tell them about GBFB’s impact in our region.
Once you’ve registered, you will receive an email with instructions on creating your own personalized fundraising webpage. All donations made through this webpage will be credited to your fundraising team.
Reach out to your networks to secure support for your fundraising campaign. Don’t forget to share with your supporters that 92 cents of every dollar goes directly to supporting our hunger relief efforts.

Interested in donating fresh, healthy items (like fruits and vegetables) to GBFB? Try hosting a #GIVEHEALTHY food drive! Once you register, a webpage will be set up for your drive, and you can share the link with your group. The items available for donation will be based on GBFB’s needs, and all of the food will be delivered to GBFB at no cost! Learn more about how it works and register for a #GIVEHEALTHY drive here.
If you’re interested in hosting a traditional food drive, here are a few steps to get started:
Find sturdy boxes to collect nonperishables items.
Place your boxes in a prominent place where your team will see them.
Make sure you’re collecting the healthiest, most-needed food items, listed below.
Dairy: Dried, evaporated, and boxed shelf stable milk
We accept all non-perishable (not frozen or refrigerated), sealed, unexpired food. (Interested in donating healthy, perishable items to GBFB? Consider hosting a #GIVEHEALTHY food drive!)
We also accept unopened toiletries (shampoo, soap, shaving cream, etc.) – these should be kept separate from any food donations.
We prefer non-glass containers for the safety of our volunteers.
We cannot accept baby food or pet food from a food drive.
Once you’ve completed your food drive:
To drop off your food donations at our warehouse, you may do so Monday-Friday, 8:00-2:30 p.m. When you arrive at GBFB, please check in with our receptionist who will assist you in making your donation. GBFB is located at 70 South Bay Ave, Boston, MA 02118.
We are only able to coordinate a food drive pickup for an organized food drive when 500 pounds or more of food has been collected and a loading dock or commercial parking is available.
