Hunger to health. Community leadership is ending hunger here.

rev-dsc-0010Let’s Talk About Food: This partnership increases our opportunities to educate and inspire people to learn about hunger and health. Let’s Talk About Food (LTAF) aims to engage people of all ages in a conversation about food. From sustainability, food insecurity, school nutrition and food labeling to easy ways to cook healthy meals and simply bringing people together to share the love of eating, all food-related topics are on the table

Spoonfuls: This collaboration plays to the strengths of each organization and is based on a referral system. If Spoonfuls has excess rescued perishable food, GBFB will accept and distribute the food in our Marketplace, where member agencies can select from the food in addition to their scheduled orders. If GBFB receives a donation of food eligible for rescue, it will refer the party to Spoonfuls who will deliver the donation directly to GBFB’s member agencies.

Boston Public Market: We connect Boston Public Market food vendors with local member agencies to distribute fresh produce at the end of the day. This enables our member agencies and neighbors in need to receive the freshest possible product. Since BPM opened, approximately, over 20,000 pounds of produce have been distributed, keeping it out of the organic waste stream and in step with MDAR’s MA Food System Plan goals of increasing availability of healthy foods to the food insecure and reducing waste.
