The Greater Boston Food Bank’s (GBFB’s) Hunger Free Holidays campaign raises awareness and funds during the holiday season for the 1 in 3 who is food insecure. Our friends at Stop & Shop, with support from the Biogen Foundation, are leading the charge and helping us raise funds to provide healthy holiday meals to our neighbors in need. Together, Stop & Shop and the Biogen Foundation are matching up to $450,000 now through December 31st.
Your participation will help individuals and families by providing them with a meal to enjoy with family, friends and loved ones this holiday season. A $30 donation will provide a healthy holiday meal for a family in need, and thanks to our partners at Stop & Shop and the Biogen Foundation, your gift will have DOUBLE the impact.

November 29: Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is a global movement to encourage people to give back to and raise awareness of issues in their communities.
Your support of Hunger Free Holidays will boost several of GBFB’s programs and initiatives that
prioritize children, students, and families, including:
Holiday Meals
Throughout the year too many residents are finding it difficult to put food on the table, but especially during the holiday season, everyone deserves a healthy holiday meal. A $30 donation will provide a complete holiday meal for a family in need. Each meal will include a turkey or other poultry/protein, a variety of fresh produce like green beans and squash, stuffing, potatoes, and cranberry sauce.
Childhood Hunger
In the past year, our food pantry partners still reported serving more than double the number of children served in 2019. Our nearly 600 distribution partners across Eastern MA support children and families with ongoing local distributions of accessible, healthy food.
Family Meal Boxes
Family Meal Boxes reduce stress on agencies impacted by unexpected volunteer shortages and provide an uncomplicated solution for immediate and low-contact grab- and-go or drive-through distributions. Each box contains enough shelf-stable healthy food for approximately 26 meals.
Grocery Cards
GBFB purchases grocery cards on behalf of partners to streamline the ordering and distribution process for our network. The cards provide a safe and easy solution for low-contact grab-and-go or drivethrough distributions. These cards are also a personalized way of supplementing food resources, allowing for more choice, culturally appropriate options, and reducing stigma/embarrassment.
