Inna Khitrik, Executive Chef at Women’s Lunch Place in Boston, believes all good things start with a meal. “A person who is hungry cannot think of anything else,” she explains.
For two years, Chef Inna and her team have prepared over 250,000 freshly made meals for the guests at Women’s Lunch Place, many of whom are experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.
“I pay a lot of attention to make sure my meals are all made from scratch,” she says. “I use only the best ingredients we can find.”
Many of those healthy ingredients are sourced from GBFB. Women’s Lunch Place is one of 600 hunger-relief agencies across Eastern Massachusetts that receive free food from GBFB.
Chef Inna says she looks forward to the apples, onions, potatoes, and fresh meats from GBFB in particular. As the holiday season approaches, she will be especially busy. “Thanksgiving is very busy, and we make a traditional meal with lots of fixings…like roasted squash, and sweet potatoes, and turkey from [the] food bank.”
When asked what she would say to GBFB’s donors if given the chance, Chef Inna says: “Because of what you do, we can make our mission possible.”
