2018 Farm Bill Fails to Pass U.S. House. What’s Next?

Published on May 21, 2018

On Friday, the United States House of Representatives voted down the 2018 Farm Bill by 198-213. This is a major win for hunger relief across the US! However, our fight isn’t over yet. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is planning to hold additional votes in the coming weeks.

CALL TO ACTION:

  • Call your U.S. Representative and thank her/him for opposing a harmful Farm Bill. Encourage your Representative to continue their support for SNAP!
    • If you do not know who your Congressperson is, you can look it up by zip code HERE. To call your Member of Congress: [(888) 398-8702].
  • Share on Facebook and Twitter why #SNAPMatters and tag @GR8BosFoodBank.

This is the first leg of a long marathon. We will continue to provide you the tools necessary to advocate for our neighbors in need. Please join us in pushing for a strong and compassionate Farm Bill.

If you have any questions about the House Farm Bill, materials, or advocacy actions, please contact GBFB Senior Manager of Public Affairs, Catherine Drennan, at cdrennan@gbfb.org or 617-598-5067.
