GBFB Honors Valued Partners

On Friday, October 12, The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) held its annual Partner Appreciation event to honor and thank those who make it possible for GBFB to feed as many as 545,000 people every year. Nearly 300 valued partners, including legislators, member agencies, food and financial donors, other friends of the organization, and GBFB team members, attended the breakfast event, held at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. Karen Holmes Ward, Host of WCVB’s Cityline and WCVB TV Director of Public Affairs, was the Master of Ceremonies. Nine individuals and businesses were honored for their commitment to working with GBFB to end hunger in Eastern Massachusetts. “Our partners are at the center of our work to end hunger here, said Catherine D’Amato, GBFB President and CEO. “Through their dedication and commitment, we are working together to provide at least One Meal a Day to everyone in need in Eastern Massachusetts.” The 2012 Award Recipients Founder’s Award: Dunkin’ Brands Leadership Award: Target Food Donors of the Year: General Mills – Refrigerated Bake Goods/Yoplait State Garden Inc. Community Partner of the Year: The Family Pantry of Cape Cod Volunteer of the Year: Ed Gabor Public Advocates of the Year: Representative Brian Dempsey, House Ways and Means Committee Chair Senator Steven Brewer, Senate Ways and Means Committee Chair Nally Award: Sophia Barrett
