Kathryn Alexander Joins The Greater Boston Food Bank as Vice President of External Affairs

Boston, MA (February 4, 2026) – The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) announced the appointment of Kathryn Alexander as Vice President of External Affairs. In this role, Alexander will oversee GBFB’s Public Affairs and Public Relations teams, raising awareness about food insecurity and advancing GBFB’s mission to end hunger across Eastern Massachusetts.

Alexander joins GBFB from the Office of Whip Katherine Clark, the second-ranking Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives, where she served for more than seven years as Communications Director and Senior Advisor. She has 15 years of experience in public relations, government affairs, and electoral campaigns, with work spanning Arizona, Massachusetts, New York, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. She has designed and led public relations and legislative advocacy campaigns on issues including healthcare, reproductive rights, and early education. Since 2022, she has also served as a guest lecturer at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

“We are delighted to welcome Kathryn Alexander to The Greater Boston Food Bank to lead GBFB’s integrated food insecurity awareness efforts,” said O’Neil Outar, GBFB’s Chief Advancement Officer. “At a time of uncertainty around federal nutrition programs and rising demand among families seeking assistance from our agency partners, Kathryn’s leadership will help elevate awareness of this critical issue so we can continue to empower everyone in Eastern Massachusetts with nutritious food every day.”

“Right now, too many of our neighbors are struggling to put food on the table,” said Kathryn Alexander. “At a moment when federal support for our social safety net is being rolled back, Massachusetts must continue to lead the way in ensuring that every person has the basics they need to thrive. I am honored to join The Greater Boston Food Bank and to bring my experience in federal and state advocacy to strengthen critical nutrition programs, support our local agency partners, and ensure that families across Eastern Massachusetts get the food and resources they need—now and in the months ahead.”

Alexander holds a Bachelor of Science in social work from Skidmore College. A Massachusetts native, she resides in Arlington with her husband and two children.
