2012 Red Sox Wives’ Cash and Can Drive Provides More Than 40,000 Meals

Published on July 25, 2012

July 20/21, the Red Sox Wives held their 21st annual Cash and Can Food Drive, an event designed to increase fan’s awareness of hunger within our communities and fundraise to benefit the hunger relief efforts of The Greater Boston Food Bank. For a donation of $10 or 10 nutritious canned food items, fans were able to select a signed picture of their favorite player from one of the player’s wives. This year’s event raised $16,655 and 2,224 pounds of food, enough to provide 40,116 meals to those in need across Eastern Massachusetts. Many generous members of Red Sox Nation made monetary donations, including those who didn’t have tickets to the game. Check out this great video of Lindsay Clubine, wife of Red Sox starting pitcher Clay Buchholz, on scene at the Cash and Can Drive. GBFB has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with the Red Sox Wives, who actively support the Red Sox Foundation. The primary focus of The Foundation is in serving the health, education, recreation, and social service needs of children and families in need across New England.
