BOSTON – March 10, 2020 – The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is a trusted, community institution committed to serving people in need across Eastern Massachusetts.

GBFB is carefully monitoring developments regarding the global spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). An internal GBFB Coronavirus Response Team has been assembled to monitor the evolving situation on a daily basis. We are planning for potential scenarios through our Incident Command Structure and will activate those plans as needed. We are also working closely under the guidance of and in coordination with Feeding America and our peer New England food banks, as well as actively consulting with the CDC, FEMA, and the state and federal Department of Public Health who are in a position to support measures to ensure access to food for the most vulnerable members of our communities during this situation.

Our primary focus is on protecting the safety and health of our community, including staff, our partner agencies and those that we serve who struggle with food insecurity. If you or someone you know is in need of food, please refer to our Need Food section of our website.
