Nally Awards

Dan and Betsy Nally from Westwood, Massachusetts, began their annual turkey drive for

The Greater Boston Food Bank in 1996 to ensure that families in need would have turkeys at Thanksgiving. To date, the Nallys and their nonprofit organization, Turkeys4America, have donated more than 700,000 pounds of turkey to The Food Bank.

The Food Bank has established an annual award in honor of Dan and Betsy to recognize other outstanding young volunteers in eastern Massachusetts who are taking action against hunger.

The nomination criteria for the Dan and Betsy Nally Award are as follows:

  • Nominated parties must be under 18 years of age.

  • Volunteerism must be hunger-related.

  • Individuals or groups can be nominated.

  • Volunteerism must benefit people in eastern Massachusetts (Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes, Essex, Middlesex, Nantucket, Norfolk, Plymouth, or Suffolk counties).
