Top Area Chefs & Restaurants Cook Up Support for GBFB

Published on February 7, 2012

January was “Super Hunger Month” when The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) traditionally teams up with some of the area’s celebrated chefs and restaurants to raise awareness and support for efforts to end hunger in Eastern Massachusetts. This year, our stellar Culinary Committee of Chefs included: Jody Adams of Rialto & Trade, Gordon Hamersley of Hamersley’s Bistro, Tony Maws of Craigie on Main, Ming Tsai of Blue Ginger, and Brooke Vosika of Four Seasons Hotel/The Bristol Lounge. They helped organize two events, the proceeds of which support GBFB. Super Hunger Chef was held the evening of January 25th in the elegant ballroom of the Four Seasons Hotel Boston. More than 200 guests enjoyed an international culinary tour as they passed from table to table, each with a different regional cuisine prepared by participating chefs featuring their restaurants’ unique dishes. Super Hunger Brunch spanned the last weekend of the month, January 28th and 29th, when 23 of the area’s finest restaurants prepared a delicious meal for $25, $35 or $50. Hundreds of families and friends gathered for wonderful food and a chance to support GBFB. “Our collaboration with local chefs and restaurants for Super Hunger Month raised more than $75,000 this year – enough to provide almost 200,000 meals to those in need in our community,” noted Catherine D’Amato, President and CEO of GBFB. “We are so grateful to all who participated.” Click here to see our upcoming events and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to stay up to date.
