Success at Strike Out Hunger!

Published on August 8, 2014

On August 1st and 2nd, while the Boston Red Sox faced the New York Yankees, The Red Sox Wives hosted the 23rd annual Strike Out Hunger fundraiser at Fenway Park to raise awareness of hunger in Eastern Massachusetts and GBFB’s mission to end hunger here in our communities.

During the two days, the Red Sox Wives and GBFB volunteers worked together to fundraise at the gates of Fenway Park. Fans who donated $10 received an autographed photo of a Red Sox Player of their choice. And, for every $1 donated, GBFB will be able to provide 3 nutritious meals to those in need.

This year’s event raised enough to provide 51,723 meals to those in need! That is over 5,000 more meals than the 2013 event and enough to provide 17,241 people with a healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner! We are grateful for our partnership with the Red Sox Wives and the impact their efforts have on the one in nine residents of Eastern Massachusetts who do not know where their next meal will come from.
