Lending a Hand in Revere | The Greater Boston Food Bank

Unfortunately, from time to time, we are faced with natural disasters out of our control. And, during times like these, it is important for communities to come together to do what they can to help those in need. Last Monday, our neighbors in Revere faced an unexpected tornado that left many homes in ruin and many people without food. On Friday, The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB), along with the Red Cross, aided to the disaster relief efforts and conducted an emergency food distribution from 12-2 pm at the First Congregation Church of Revere. GBFB Team members and volunteers served over 82 households, representing more than 220 individuals, who came to pick up food such as fresh tomatoes, fresh zucchini, fresh watermelon, fresh lettuce, bottled water, yogurt, and canned goods. Families left with bags of nutritious food to take some burden off this unexpected hardship. In addition to our goal to end hunger here in Eastern Massachusetts, we believe that it is our responsibility to help our community whenever there is a need. Our thoughts go out to the Revere community during this time. To learn more about The Greater Boston Bank and you can help to end hunger here by donating time or funds, please visit www.gbfb.org.
